Got a question about the Day School for Dogs? We’re here to help. Here are some common questions and answers.
All dogs will learn and practice basic manners including:
Your dog will work with our professional dog trainers all day. If your dog has mastered the basics, we will add in off-site trips, more distractions, and even tricks and service dog tasks. We can even practice basic agility skills with your dog. Since each professional trainer only works with five dogs a day, we can customize the training to fit your needs.
Schedule a consultation today. Let's get started.
If your dog enjoys playing with the other dogs and dogs of a similar size and play style are on campus, your dog will have playtime with other dogs. If your dog is not a good fit for playtime, our staff will play with your dog by throwing a ball, taking a walk around the block, running through the tunnel on the agility field, hunting for treasures in boxes, or other fun activities for dogs. Please let us know what your dog enjoys, and we will strive to provide that activity.
Prior to the first day, you will be asked to answer questions about your dog's current behavior and training. If your dog is very excited around other dogs, we will need to meet your dog in person before accepting them into our program. Our program is not designed for dogs who are aggressive or extremely fearful around other dogs.
Each week, we will provide you with a list of skills your dog learned or practiced. We encourage you to practice these skills at home. At pick-up or drop-off time, we are more than happy to schedule a short private lesson to help you learn how to cue your dog to do the new skills we have taught. Taking time each day to practice at home will greatly improve the learning experience for you and your dog. However, we understand families are very busy. If you do not have the time to practice at home, we understand. It is not a problem.
The hand signals, verbal cues, and methodologies are the same for our Day School, Learning Academy group classes, and private lessons.
We do not use aversive training methods such as prong, pinch, or e-collars. However, if your dog has been "trained" using these methods, we are happy to help you convert to positive methods based on the human and canine bond. All our training is positive and based on science. We reward with food, toys, praise, and attention.
The drop-off in the Morning: 8:15 - 9:00 AM
Pick-up in the Evening: 4 - 6 PM
After the first day, you will be provided with a phone number that you can text shortly before you arrive. We are happy to meet you at your car when you arrive for drop-off or pick-up. Our goal is to make training your dog as enjoyable as possible for you.
** Arrangements outside these hours can be made on a case-by-case basis. Check with us to confirm availability.

All dogs need to be current with age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, parvo, and rabies.
Note, that young puppies that are too young for a rabies vaccination are not required to have one.
Dogs adopted from a shelter or high-volume breeding facility are not eligible to attend until they have been in your home and are healthy for two weeks.
Bordetella is highly recommended within the year for all dogs. Bordetella should be given at least 10 days prior to drop-off to be as safe as possible.

The dogs will be crated during nap time. Each crate has a nice soft place for your dog to snuggle and relax. If your dog can not be crated, please discuss this with us before enrolling.
Shy dogs will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If your dog is very shy, this type of program may do more harm than good. We suggest a private lesson before enrolling if you have concerns.
We are open Monday to Thursday. Since our goal is to provide you and your dog with professional and individualized service, availability is limited to five dogs per trainer.
